~ My Review ~
Lately
I have been reading a lot of books where there is a focus on strong women
surviving impossible odds. This books rates at the top of the list.
The
author created a memorable historical romance story showing how Cecelia took a
horrible mistake she made as a young women to become a self possessed woman who
is working on creating a better life for herself while she helped Lind and his
son overcome physical and mental walls. It is refreshing how she just brazens
through things and doesn’t allow fear to rule her no matter how much she is
threatened by a man from her past. Her character is priceless.
Lind
is tortured, a man that is injured and in pain both in body and soul. I love
how the author’s writing style for his part showed enough of his pain but not
too much making you think less of his character. To me he was just the right
amount of man to keep me wanting to know more about him.
Additionally,
this book was riddled with interesting twists from other secondary characters;
Cecelia’s brother Alexander and his wife Henrietta, Battencliffe an old friend,
and Eversham a man from Cecelia’s past. They helped to progress the storyline by
adding addition depth, danger and excitement to the story.
Last
but not least this story is a romance and there is plenty of that to keep you
reading to the very end. I recommend this book to everyone who loves Historical
Romances and especially those who want to give this genre a try.
